    Description

    Offered here is a fine custom octave mandolin made by Richard Beard around 2014. Woods used are spectacular curly Hawaiian Koa for sides and back, sinker California redwood, very fine, even grain, and old-growth Cuban mahogany for neck. Very attractive curly-maple binding around top and back. Brass-plated tuners and tailpiece. Approximately 23 1/8" scale length. Ebony bridge. Magnificent full, complex tone with deep voice on low end. Truly a marvelous instrument.
