Description

Fresh from a very high end estate, this is sort of a mystery piece, at least in terms of age. The item is a Gold crescent or moon shaped pin, purported to be circa 100-250 A.D., of Roman origin. I certainly can’t verify that and couldn’t even if I was the pins original purchaser, as I suspect this type of gold jewelry is sold in the Middle East to tourists all the time, but the style looks right in terms being very old... Whether ancient or 20th century, I do know the gold content is very high, as i bought 3 or 4 pieces of Roman jewelry like this from the estate and had a local pawnshop friend test them in his high tech metal spectrum analysis machine, and each piece had a gold content of between 22.3 karat and 23.4 carat. That’s consistent with the gold content you seen in raw Alaska nuggets or early Roman gold, so certainly possible it’s that old. At any rate, Weight is approximately 3.63 grams. Pin size is approximately 1 inch across, per photo.  Shipped with USPS.
