Description
After being tossed around from foster home to foster home, this furry baby has finally found a place of their own— with you! This Furby, nicknamed “Rover”, has not only gone through an excessive amount of surgeries to retain their youth, but has also spruced themself up just to meet you! Despite all of the hardships this little guy has been though these past few decades, Rover still believes there is a special somebody out there to share a forever home with— could that be you?Rover spends most of their time daydreaming to music and LOVES to snuggle up by the fireplace during the winter, but their favorite season is actually spring! On sunny days, Rover likes to go to the park and meet new friends, and maybe old ones too! They’re approachable, sociable, and an overall blast to be around. Like most dogs, Rover loves to play fetch, but will only do so if their friends are nearby. The more the merrier, after all!!! And their favorite snack? Why, beef jerky of course! Rover likes all kinda jerky— even the vegan kind, and drools just thinking about it! Just don’t remind them before bed, otherwise you might find them laying in a puddle of their own slobber in the morning! Rover will lay just about anywhere as long as they can catch some Z’s, so be careful with where you allow them to sleep, because you might find them there when they shouldn’t be!
* Rover was both fixed and cleaned with various Lysol, Snuggle, and Persil detergents before initial customization.
* Rover is made with a “Gorilla” Furby model (70-800 RL) that dates from 1999, hence the purple tag on their left side! These tags were made to differentiate an authentic Furby from a fake one.
* Rover’s nose and teeth were sculpted with FIMO white and black clay, while the beak was painted with Liquitex Basic Acrylic paint, respectively. It was then coated with a thin layer of clear Mod Podge to protect the beak from further damage.
* Though Rover is fully functional, their eyelids and muzzle will have a hard time opening due to the thickness of the acrylic paint interfering with their faceplate. There’s not much you can do about this, but I don’t think it’s an issue (it used to be a lot worse before I sanded it down!)
* The ear tufts within Rover’s ear canals are made with the same black faux fur as their tail, while the rest of the tail was made with brown minky fabric. The tail itself has been hand-sewn with black embroidery thread and is very delicate, so no tugging!!! The inside of Rover’s tail has also been equipped with silver wire which allows it to be completely posable!
* Rover’s standard Furby eye chips have been customized to encapsulate the spirit of all domestic dogs. Legend says if you look in a dog’s eyes long enough, you can see yourself giving them a tasty treat! Or maybe it’s those cute, pleading eyes getting to our heads...
* Rover’s eye chips have NOT been glued in, just in case the buyer wants to swap them out. No messing with them unless you know what you are doing!
* Rover’s collar is original, however, the spikes on it are not, and you must be careful not to press on them hard otherwise you’ll poke yourself!
* Rover will come with their own squeaky toy that is listed in the photos.
* Here is a link to a video featuring Rover’s functioning mechanisms: https://furbfo.tumblr.com/post/656444380116320256/heres-a-quick-video-of-rovers-working-parts-for
NOTE: Any damage taken to Rover once the package has been opened by the buyer is NOT the seller’s responsibility. Use the same common sense you would to handle any other toy. No rough-housing. Rover is 22 years old!!!
Additionally, while customizing Rover, I ran into a few issues. If Rover is not responding despite being given new batteries, you might have to swap them around. Resetting them also seems to wake them up too, so try that before fidgeting with the batteries. Also, if for some reason you hear Rover’s motor whirring, but they are not moving, chances are the gear underneath the motor has come loose. Unfortunately the factory that put them together did not do a good job doing so, and I had to glue it on manually.
The process of customizing this Furby took place within an entire week, as it is the first Furby I’ve ever worked on. Giving what used to be a comatose Gorilla Furby a whole new life has been fun; however, I must let them go, as I am in desperate need of funds. By bidding on Rover, you are not only agreeing to give them the forever home they’ve been looking for, but you are also agreeing to purchase Rover full-price if you win the auction. Rover comes from a vaccinated, smoke-free home. I do, however, have pets.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask them on my tumblr: www.furbfo.tumblr.com/ ! I must also mention that I do not do trades and will not be accepting any offers on Rover either. Please understand and thank you for reading! 💗 Happy bidding!
