SERVICING INFORMA TION
HOOD LOCK: Hinged at front. Pull the "T" shaped handle marked "HOOD" on instrument panel, at left of steering wheel, to
release the hood latches. The hood can then be raised. Counterbalance springs assist in opening the hood and holding it
open. To latch the hood, close it firmly by pressing downward at either rear comer of the hood.
BATTERY: Location - Under hood, on right front fender. Size - 12 volts, 72 ampere hour, 102 plates. Negative post grounded.
COOLING SYSTEM: Three phase circulation system of coolant is standard. When wa ter is cold, it is circulated through the
cylinder heads and intake manifold. When water reaches 140°F., two thermostats open to allow circulation of water through
the cylinder heads, intake manifold and blocks. When water reaches 180°F., a single thermostat opens to allow the water
from the engine to circulate through the radiator.
RADIA TOR DRAIN: Drain cock, right rear, of lower tank.
BLOCK DRAIN: Drain plug, in center of right bank and in rear of left bank.
RADIA TOR CAP: Pressure cooling employed with valve in cap at 12 to 15 pounds. Caution Tum cap counterclockwise to
stop before removing, to allow any press ure to be relieved through overflow pipe.
GAS TANK FILLER: Covered, under hinged license plate bracket in center of lower body back panel. Bracket hinged at
bottom.
The information contained in this Mobilubrication Bulletin is based on latest ad-
vice received direct from the factories. As in previous years, changes in design
may be made in the manufacturers' later production.

ENGINE OIL RECOMMENDATIONS
ENGINE OIL GRADES ARE RECOMMENDED ACCORDING TO TEM-
PERATURE RANGES SHOWN ABOVE THE "ENGINE RECOMMENDA-
TIONS" WINDOW AND DESCRIBED BELOW.
ABOVE 32°F.
USE RECOMMENDATIONS SHOWN IN WINDOW, FOR ALL DRIVING
CONDITIONS IN TEMPERAT URES ABOVE 32°F.
ABOVE 0°F.
ABOVE 90°F. - FOR LOCALITIES WHERE AVERAGE DAYTIME TEM-
PERATURES ARE ABOVE 90°F. OR FOR CONTINUED HIGH SPEED
DRIVING IN ALL SUMMER TEMPERATURES. WHEN DUAL RECOM-
MENDATIONS ARE SHOWN, THE MANUF ACTURER RECOMMENDS THE
LIGHTER GRADE BUT ADVISES THE HEAVIER GRADE MAY BE USED.
USE GRADE SHOWN IN WINDOW, FOR ÇOLD WEATHER WHEN
LOWEST EXPECTED TEMPERATURE Is o°F.
BELOW 0°F.
FOR OPERATION IN CONTINUED SUB-ZERO TEMPERATURES,
REFER TO RECOMMENDATIONS IN TABLE BELOW:-

To facilitate uniformly satisfactory Mobilubrication, a single mileage has been adopted for similar units operating under
the same conditions on all cars. The recommended frequencies shown are 1000, 5000, 10,000, 15,000 and 20,000 miles.
These frequencies may sometimes vary from those shown in instruction books of various car manufacturers.

LUBRICATION SERVICE INFORMATION
Figures and numerals printed in italies and enclosed in parenthes is, as (D 1), refer
to illustrations and descriptions appearing on the Mobilubrication Disc Chart which
are applicable to 1960 construction.
TWIN-RANGE TURBO-DRIVE (D-5): Check fluid level every 1000 miles. To make this check, set parking brake lever tightly,
and place selector in "N" position. Idle engine for 4 minutes and move se lector lever to "P". Move selector to each position
and return to "P" position. Dipstick and filler hole are on right side and can be reached from under hood. Remo ve ol, dirt,
sand or lint around dipstick. Fluid le vel should be at "FULL " mark on dipstick with engine idling. Maintain level with
Mobilfluid 200.
Dra in and re fill the housing every 25,000 miles.
See Mobilubrication Bulletin "Correct Lubrication of Automatic and Semi-A utomatic Transmission" for complete
and approved instructions.
REAR AXLE (HYPOID GEARS) (D-6): Check lubricant level every 1000 miles. Add lubricant as required. Drain, and refill
e very 10,000 miles.
Directed- Power limited slip differential standard on Continental, optional on others. Identifled by nameplate on
trunk lid and me tal tag, stamped T, attached to bolt near filler plug. After draining, re fill with special lubricant. Use
Mobilube GX 90 for topping-up.
Filler Opening and Level Gauge: Plug in housing cover.
Drain: No drain plug. Use suction gun.
POWER STEERING (K-3): Steering gear and hydraulic system supplied from reservoir at front of engine on left. Check level
of fluid in reservoir every 1000 miles. Before checking, clean top of reservoir to avoid entrance of dirt when cover is removed.
To check fluid level, remove wing nut and lift off co ver. Fluid should be " from top of reservoir. Use Mobilfluid 200 to main-
tain fluid at this level. Replace cover and tighten wing nut. Gasket must be properly seated in cover to pre vent leakage.
AIR CLEANER: (K-2): Dry element tYpe. Remove air clearier co ver. Remove filter element by tapping lightly to remove dust
and dirt. The filter element may also be cleaned with compressed air, using care that the filtering fibre is not ruptured by the
air stream. Direct the air stream against the element in a direction opposite that of the intake air flow. Do not use cleaning
solvents and be sure the compressed air is clean and dry. Under normal driving conditions, clean element every 1000 miles
and replace it every 10,000 miles. In dusty areas the element should be cleaned every day or oftener.
CRANKCASE VENTILATOR AIR CLEANER: The crankcase inlet air filter and cap must be cleaned and oiled every 1000
miles. To clean, remove the cap with filter from the oil filler tube by turning cap counterclockwise approximately 1/2 tum.
Clean in Sovasol No. 5, dry with air pressure and sa turate filter element with Mobiloil AF.
STEERING STOP: - One on each side. Daub Mobilgrease No. 5 on each stop, every 1000 miles.
DOOR HINGES: Apply a few drops of Mobiloil Arctic at four holes in each door hinge, every l000 miles.
MULTI-LUBER: Optional. An automatic chassis
It is designed to cycle on initial engine starts and on subsequent engine starts after a time delay of approximately1 to 4
hours. It consists of a vacuum diaphragm assembly, an injector body with plunger, and the feed line connectors. Lubricant
is supplied from a 7 ounce container located on the right front fender apron support. A "Lub" warning lamp on the instrument
panel will glow when the container is empty and not during any part of the lubrication cycle. When necessary, refill container
with Mobilube GX90.
lubricating system for front suspension and steering connection fittings.
POWER BRAKES: Every 10,000 miles, wash air cleaner in Sovasol No. 5 and drain.
CONVERTIBLE TOP POWER UNIT: - Check level of fluid in reservoir, located on panel in top storage compartment, every
5,000 miles. Loosen plug in end of reservoir and operate the top three times to bleed all air from the system and leave top
in its "up" position. Remove filler plug and maintain level at edge of filler plug hole with Mobil Hydraulic Brake Fluid.
POWERSEAT: – 4-way seat standard on Premiere, 6-way seat standard on Continental. Electrically operated. Apply Mobil-
grease No. 2 to seat regulator shafts every 10,000 miles.
OIL FILTER (K-1): Screw on, full flow type. Replace filter every 5000 miles. When replacing, tighten by hand only.
AIR CONDITIONING: Optional.
